I'm at it again! I forgot to take a before picture. Ugh! This piece is a Chippendale Style Bedside Chest with Brass Hardware. Picture it...
Same process here as the French Writing Desk as far as using a simple primer instead of using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for my first coat. I primed the piece, painted it in Annie Sloan Pure White, brushed on one coat of clear wax, sanded and distressed, added a coat of dark wax, and then wiped dark wax off with clear wax. Finally, I buffed it to shine.
The hardware was rubbed in Pure White and then waxed with dark wax.
See the buffet peeking from behind this bedside table? He's next on the painting agenda. In the meantime, you can find this bedside chest offered for sale at Montgomery Antique Galleries.

I love how your piece turned out! I used to use dark wax a lot and somehow got away from that look.....you've inspired me to go back to it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks really great. I haven't yet used dark wax, it's on my list though for a future project. I had to smile when I seen what looks to be a line up of furniture in the back ground just waiting for a re-do. Reminds me of myself.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job! I love using dark wax. Visiting from Homemaker on a Dime. Would love it if you would share this at my Make it Pretty Monday at The Dedicated House. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2012/06/make-it-pretty-monday-week-3.html Wishing you a grand evening. ReplyDeleteYou did a really great job. I really have to try this chalk paint.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
I am also over at the AKA Designs party! Love this side table. I have one that I am going to work on tomorrow! I am still trying to decide what to do? This looks great!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish! I love, love, love reading your upholstery & slipcover projects. You make it look so effortless & the finished results are always stunning. I'm still thinking about your antique settee! I've nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You can check out all the details on my blog. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThe dark wax is very pretty. This piece turned out great. I painted a small french chest for use as a "nightstand" and was large enough I had to call it a bedside chest not a nightstand. It's turned out wonderful and is my favorite painted piece of furniture to date. I've painted a couple of white pieces and may have to go back and try a dark wax on them. The white seems a little....vanilla.
